I love this idea. Its called coworking. Someone sets up an office and rents a desk (or chair at a large table) for either the month/week/day to individuals with different jobs, but want to share ideas. Seems like a great way to work independently and still be around creative and intelligent community. It really seems to provide for tons of resources, for instance, if you are running a website selling a product you designed — you may be working with/next to a web programmer or graphic designer, etc. The coworking centers provide wi-fi and conference rooms (+ beer!) for as little as $150 month in San Fran. The idea comes from the open source software movement, mainly the idea that work (i.e. sharing one’s skills) is to be shared with little regard to financial gain.
